2017-2018 Stitch by Stitch

The total project needs $16,800.  You can download the brochure here.

More about our project

Located in central Africa, Rwanda is a country of 12 million whose past has been plagued by ethnic genocide.  Because of this, women have had to take on the traditionally male role as head of the household.

Nearly 60% of the Rwandan population lives below the poverty line.  Women are being trained in sewing and knitting to become economically independent to empower each other and their communities.

Sierra Community Church wants to empower these women by providing sewing machines and giving them vocational training in sewing to become economically independent.  The women also enjoy fellowship and help each other develop spiritually.

We sought to raise $10,000 of the $16,800 needed to buy sewing machines and fabric, and provide sewing training for 200 women.  We managed to raise $9,542.40.

This project will be managed by the staff of the Sierra Community Church in Rwanda in partnership with International Ministries and help Rwandan women become the catalyst for change and economic development in their country.
