Walls.

Some walls are necessary, like the walls in our houses that provide strength for the structure that protects us from the outside elements.

Sometimes we have internal walls that also provide strength to protect us from toxic relationships and things that have hurt us.

Sometimes we get too good at keeping those walls up though, too used to keeping others out, so even when we do not need to anymore we do not know how to take the walls down anymore.

The theme, Let the Walls Fall Down  is a way to help us explore that.  Personally and as an organization.

How can we limit barriers, help with inadequate support systems,  the division of issues of race and equity?  There is so much unknown.

Yet, nationally, we believe by Letting the Walls Fall Down we can be introspective and reflective bring us each to a call to action to help create a better future.

As Dr. Kelsey said in the opening moments of Convention, NYS American Baptist Women’s Ministries  “brings together all three of our regions… and in a lot of ways {NYS American Baptist Women’s Ministries} embodies all of the diversity of New York State”.

We have so much we can learn from each other, and from our individual regions, from the ages our groups have and represent.

I hope you will join us as we Let the Walls Fall Down and move into a thoughtful time of ministry, thinking outside of the walls we may have previously held up thinking they were necessary to be there.

Blessings in the days ahead.

Becky
