Personal Development Ministries … Spring 2017

by Kathy Wilt

I’m not sure where the Spirit wants to go with this article but when I opened up my Bible, my eyes fell upon the Scripture that we centered on for the Convention, Ephesians 4:1-2.

“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.  Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

Living a life worthy of the calling we have received.

I sometimes ask, “God, exactly what are you calling me to?”  As I sat in my study this morning I was aware of the carefully placed piles of stuff arranged haphazardly around the room.  I saw the more urgent notes of things-to-do that I’d placed last night next to my laptop so I wouldn’t forget them!

stack of papers and notebooks on a desk

God, exactly WHAT are you calling me to do??  I need time to think this through!

Once again I’ve said yes to too many folks! Once again I’m thinking of five different things at once!  I’m sure all of you out there who are juggling family needs, community responsibilities, and work don’t even have time to ask, “God what ARE you calling me to??”

Let me digress a moment to congratulate Claudia, Pat and the Convention Planning team, and the local Team on an outstanding Convention!  From the accommodations, to the meetings, to the music, to the worship, to the workshops, it often didn’t go as planned but it went as God planned!

I would urge all of you to think of attending next year!  A chance for fellowship, a chance to be united with women similar to you and quite different from you in worship – we were truly one body and one Spirit – just as Ephesians 4:4 suggests!

Our convention theme was Investing In God’s Resources.  And we were reminded so well by Rev. Sandra DeMott Hasenauer that indeed we our-selves are the first resource given by God!

We must invest in our- selves first before we can be a resource to others.

Wherever you are right now and whatever you are doing, God is calling you to be where you are.  As bad or as enjoyable as it may be, know that He’s using you!  God using you and using me is a pretty awesome thing to thank Him for!

Oops, one of my piles just fell over!  What a mess.

Just use me, Lord. Try to pray that prayer as often as you can. If we will just look  to You, everything else will fall into place!

Happy Spring Everyone!
