Sisters Seeking Wholeness

Our theme and ministry focus changes every two years. The 2019-2020 focus has been introduced and is Sisters Seeking Wholeness.

Do you want to be made whole?

John 5:6

Sisters Seeking Wholeness is a focused effort by American Baptist Women’s Ministries to address the spiritual and social issues that leave women and girls, young and not so young, feeling broken.

They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:8,

To be fruitful like the tree described in Jeremiah 17:8, we must be rooted in Christ. ABWM is committed to fostering opportunities and spaces to encourage women, of all ages, to deepen their relationship with God. Equipping them with practical tools to improve both the inside and out.

We only need to hear/see the news, social media, or even look at our calendars; to know that we live in a busy and broken world. I often wish for more than 24 hours in a day and I have a suspicion that you do as well.

ABWM hopes that by placing an emphasis on the theme, Sisters Seeking Wholeness, women can see how to reorder our days. Intentionally starting with God, developing a spiritual practice, developing self-care tools and skills that will enable us to become well and whole. Now more than ever, with all going on, we need to focus on caring for ourselves a bit. Research shows all the efforts being placed on self-care. But without going to the root of the brokenness, we only heal the surface to break again.

There are free webinars this fall, a series titled Avenues of Wholeness, that are being offered. Even if you missed a few of them you can see watch them on replay.

I know with my overly busy fall schedule, I have come to the hard realization that I need to reconnect and place more of a focus on that self-care, getting back to my daily spiritual practices are much needed. – Rebecca
